ASSISTANT SCIENTIST D LABORATORY (M/F/D)
Full time I located in Boise (ID- USA) I at the earliest opportunity
The assistant scientist carries out doubled haploid (DH) production from donor plant to DH plantlet regeneration.
The position will support and work with breeders, to provide in vitro and DH potato plants for diploid hybrid potato breeding.
This in-person and full-time position located at our Boise, Idaho site assists with coordinating projects, organizing breeding program operations, and helping to develop an elite germplasm pipeline.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare tissue culture media and stock solutions for lab operations
- Perform and document all tasks related to production of potato DH plants and tissue culture activities
- Maintain, operate, and clean laboratory instruments, equipment and workspaces
- Participate in protocol development and process improvement
- Responsible for inventory and data management within company databases
- Assist in analysis and reporting

- Ability to recognize and solve problems with a limited degree of supervision
- Manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks efficiently
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work systematically and clearly communicate research findings
- Ability to work in an international team and willingness to travel internationally
- Ability and willingness to work long days, outdoors, in adverse weather conditions. Able to lift 50lbs.
Knowledge and skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in agricultural or biological science
- Good hand-eye coordination for tissue culture
- At least 1 year of work experience in double haploid or plant tissue culture
- Ability to perform repetitive work without compromising quality of work
- Experience working with microscopy
- Attention to detail
